People often ask what Leonbergers
do. Unlike most breeds, Leos were not bred for a specific task,
such as Bernese Mountain Dogs (cart pulling) or Saint Bernards
(rescue work).
However, without a doubt, Leonbergers
ARE a working breed. Their lack of specialization in one area
has made them a very versatile dog, able to be trained to do many
different things.
As working dogs, Leos are happiest
when they can work side-by-side with their humans.
